Membership to the New England Expedition Riders

This is your ticket to a year full of awesome cycling in new and interesting places on cool routes, connection with a large, wonderful group of avid cyclists of all kinds, and much more!

Membership in NEER brings you hundreds of dollars of value. At the very bottom of this page, we detail some of the on-going benefits and ways to connect with others and receive valuable information weekly.

If you love great bike rides, the value you’ll receive from your membership is easily in the thousands of dollars annually. Membership allows you access to experts in the bike world ranging from frame builders to professional cyclists, and you can easily connect with people who enjoy the kind of riding you do.

Every bike ride we host is carefully organized. Safety is our top priority. We make sure every rider knows what to expect from the day, the route, proper bike and equipment to bring, and we make sure everyone feels comfortable from saying “hello” in the parking lot to the very end of each ride.

Everyone, whether a member or not, who wants to ride with NEER MUST fill out this waiver prior to the first ride.

It goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway, that we’re an inclusive group of cyclists and membership is “at-will.” Anyone who makes one or more other members feel uncomfortable for reasons of safety, reasons surrounding any kind of stereotyping, discrimination of any kind, poor behavior toward others outside of NEER that reflects on the group or makes cycling less safe for the group (losing one’s temper at a car, for example), will be removed from membership and refunded any unused membership fee paid. Lack of respect for NEER, its associated partners or anyone in the group is also grounds for being removed. We’re reasonable people and reasonableness is employed at all times in these matters which, fortunately, are nearly non-existent.

Membership levels for riders start at $65 for a full year. Even if you only ride with NEER once all year, it’s worth the membership price. Unless we’re hosting a special ride, the first ride does not require membership to NEER so you can check us out and see if you want to join as a rider.

Compare this with a 45-minute cyclocross race: $45. Local event rides: $150-200. Road race: $75. Unbound gravel: $325.

We don’t want finances to get in the way. Please email us at connect@newenglandexpeditionriders.com if the membership fee is a financial burden. We believe community and cycling is for everyone and love how people from all walks come out to our rides.

Offering well organized rides, weekly communication, and special offerings costs thousands of dollars a year in infrastructure and equipment expenses (NEER organizers don’t take a paycheck).

In 2024, we hosted over 85 rides and events for our riders at various times of day, days of the week, and locations around the Boston area, New Hampshire, Maine, central and western Mass, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

Why It’s Important to Join

NEER’s insurance company does not allow a rider to become a member for a specific ride. Therefore, your membership needs to be processed at least a day prior to you joining us for a ride.

Want to see what we’re all about? You are welcome to ride with us once ever without a membership at rides where we don’t require membership. Some rides are for members only due to logistics or other reasons. You’ll still need to sign a waiver before riding regardless of your status.
